The Ghana Securities Industry Association (GSIA) launched this year’s Capital Market Week on Monday, October 23, 2017. The launch was preceded by a Health Walk on Saturday October 21, 2017.
The Capital Market Week is aimed at deepening public knowledge of the capital market through education. It also aims at educating the public on wealth creation through the capital market. The Capital Market Week was instituted in 2006 under the auspices of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Ghana Securities Industry Association (GSIA) and the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).
The programmes of activities for this year’s Capital Market Week are:
- Health Walk on Saturday October 21, 2017.
- Media Launch – Monday, October 23, 2017 @ the Ghana Stock Exchange.
- Financial Literacy Education (Radio & TV) – Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
- Financial Literacy Education (Radio & TV) – Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
- Capital Market Seminar – Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 9:00 – 4:30 at Labadi Beach Hotel, La-Accra.
- Capital Market Debate Program for Tertiary Institutions – Thursday, October 26, 2017.
- Industry Awards Dinner and Special Awards for GSIA Founding Members, Friday, December 01, 2017.
Topics to be discussed at the seminar include:
- Policy Conversation with the Ministry of Finance, Financial Sector Division (FSD). This is a one on one conversation with the Director of the FSD on the topic, Government Policies for Market Protection. (9.40am-11.30am).
- Regulatory Environment , a panel discussion featuring representatives of Regulatory Bodies within the financial & capital Market on the topic: Supervision & Enforcement: Issues, Actions & Sanctions by Regulators. (11.45am-1.30pm)
- Capital Market Industry Matters, this panel session brings together industry players from the Capital & Financial Markets to share their perspectives on the topic, Systemic Risks: Should industry be concerned? (2.40pm-4.25pm)
